Hooray! I'm Employed!

I got a job at a sweet little special effects boutique in Hermosa Beach. I'm soo excited - Mac Quad 4 Systems at every station, and the beach at the front door - absolutely divine.

The images I'm posting today are from a watercolor I did five years ago. I'm extremely proud of the fact that I did her without any sort of model or source material - which honestly, is how I draw all my cheesecake, even though I always feel guilty, like; shouldn't I be using a model to really nail the anatomy here? But then I argue: naaaw - this is way more fun. It's looser, that's for sure. :) I redid some of her details, but I largely didn't mess with the original intent. Mistakes and all, she's one of my fave doodles.

You know you wanna go see my newest After Effects piece, The Terrible Dinner. Go here to check it out. All it needs now are some titles. For people that saw it in the work-in-progress stage, this is the cleaned up, I love it entirely version. Enjoy!

Wall E Trailer

Oh...this looks good. Using the song 'Brazil' in the trailer? Also good. Pixar, you make me sooo incredibly happy, and all you have to do is make films.

Go here to see the Wall E trailer.

Warcraft is My Fix...Get Me a Syringe!!!

Is World of Warcraft addictive? Apparently, a bunch of over-reacting, crap-for-parenting adults think so. One (anonymous) woman likens the game to buying her son alcohol, in this gem of an article. Plus game addiction might make it into the DSM! I can't wait!

Now to be fair, I'm sure there are addicts, but you can become addicted to anything if you have the predisposition for addiction. Hell, you can get your fix from picking belly-button lint if you so desire - the potential is there.

And my tauren? Level fifty-nine baby, waiting for that sweet level sixty goodness.

I love drawing cheesecake, and Knockout was especially fun to draw (I'm identifying with her a bit, perhaps - in a good way - she's a good-natured tough cookie, after all). I started in pencil, then inked using Prismacolor, Tombow, Deleter, and Copic markers. I find that I need to use a plethora of markers for subtle differences in warmth and coolness; each brand has its own benefits and deficiencies in those arenas. After that, I scanned this baby. I had to color correct the scanned drawing, and this tif file is a (fairly) decent approximation of the original marker colors. Enjoy.

Paprika Film

I rarely say this: Paprika, directed by Satoshi Kon, is a perfect film. The characters are intriguing, the action great, the images and themes outrageously imaginative - there is nothing better you could be doing this weekend than seeing this movie. Unfortunately, it's only playing in Los Angeles and New York, so if you have the rare opportunity of proximity, I suggest you play into fate's hands and see it. There is little else to say.

Oh yeah, and I'm the guild master of Hordish at the moment. My position is temporary, but hey, I feel like bragging.

The above images are stills from the film, Paprika, and retain copyright with
